Recent Reviews in Burlington VT

  • I grew up going to this medical center and my parents still see the doctors there. They really do seem to care and are pretty competent. The building is a little older, but I have seen them update parts of their building. added 2009-11-19
  • If you're a fan of indian food, this is the only place in Plattsburgh to get it! The interior of the restaurant is bright and cheery, and I've always had good service. I especially like the lunch buffets, because for about $10 you can sample three or four types of dishes. added 2009-11-18

City Spotlight

Burlington

Burlington has long been known as one of the country's most livable cities, and that says a lot about the city's attraction as a tourist destination as well. And because it's such an ideal place to live in, visitors might discover that they can't help but come back again and again; some may even want to stay for good.

A trip to Burlington would not be complete without visiting Burlington's Church Street Marketplace, the city's well-known pedestrian mall. Located in the heart of downtown, this urban oasis is a perfect blend of the cosmopolitan and the beauty of nature: think of retail stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and entertainers built amidst a backdrop of stunning lake and mountain views. Strolling through the four blocks comprising the pedestrian mall would make anyone appreciate the beauty of combining nature and modern conveniences.

The ECHO Lake Aquarium & Science Center showcases over 70 live species of aquatic fauna and flora, as well as more than 100 interactive exhibits for the public to enjoy. Anthropology and arts enthusiasts should include a visit to the Robert Hull Fleming Museum, which houses the most comprehensive collection of anthropology and arts masterpieces in the whole state.

Visitors flock yearly to Burlington for the Discover Jazz Festival, which features more than 200 live performances spread over 10 days - this is Vermont's biggest performing arts event. Get ready to jam with both local and international musicians and artists, as they converge in Burlington and give the city an energy level that's just hard to resist.

During summertime, visitors can expect Burlington (and the whole Lake Champlain Region) to be a bustling center of activity, as it becomes a base camp for outdoor enthusiasts keen on hiking, biking, camping, kayaking/canoeing, boating and riding on hot air balloons. The ski resorts in the whole state cater to visitors not only during winter, as they are transformed into golf courses, tennis courts and spas in the warmer months.

After a hectic day full of fun activities, a visit to one of Burlington's pubs and breweries would be a great way to unwind. Some of these establishments offer a variety of ales and malt beers; customers get a chance to assuage their thirst, while discovering the brewing processes that come up with their thirst-quencher of choice. Brewery tours are also available, to show visitors the in detail processes involved in wine and beer-making.

There are a lot of accommodation options in Burlington, both for business and leisure travelers. World-class hotels, resorts, motels, vacation rentals and bed-and-breakfast establishments are all ready to give their clients the high quality service they deserve.

As one of the country's most livable cities, Burlington has a lot to offer to even the most discerning traveler. Just a friendly warning though - you may find it hard to leave the city, or at the very least crave for another visit after just a few months.
